Web page http://geophys.aari.ru/PCspaceweather/differencePC presents data on the hourly mean quantities of the following parameters averaged over the period 1997-2019:
PCN – index PC derived in the northern polar cap (station Thule, Greenland);
PCS – index PC derived in the southern polar cap (station Vostok, Antarctic);
ΔPC – difference between simultaneous values of PCN and PCS, ΔPC=PCN-PCS;
PCmean – mean value of PCN and PCS, PCmean=(PCN+PCS)/2;
ByIMF – azimuthal component of Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF);
BzIMF – vertical component of Interplanetary Magnetic Field (IMF);
Ekl – solar wind electric field Ekl = Vsw(By^2 + Bz^2)^(1/2)(sin(θ/2))^2;
N – number of available data in the appointed category.
The following categories of the corresponding PCN and PCS are applied:
     NpSp – the positive PCN and PCS indices in both polar caps simultaneously,
     NnSn – the negative PCN and PCS indices in both polar caps simultaneously,
     NSpn – PCN and PCS indices are opposite in sign (negative or positive) simultaneously.
Difference ΔPC=PCN-PCS is characterized as positive (p) if PCN>PCS and negative (n) if PCN < PCS, with use of the following gradations of ΔPC value:
     p1 – ΔPC positive in range from 0 to 0.5 mV/m,
     p2 – ΔPC positive in range from 0.5 to 1 mV/m,
     p3 – ΔPC positive in range from 1 to 1.5 mV/m,
     p4 – ΔPC positive in range from 1.5 to 2 mV/m,
     p5 – ΔPC positive in range > 2 mV/m,
     n1 – ΔPC negative in range from 0 to -0.5 mV/m,
     n2 – ΔPC negative in range from -0.5 to -1 mV/m,
     n3 – ΔPC negative in range from -1 to -1.5 mV/m,
     n4 – ΔPC negative in range from -1.5 to -2 mV/m,
     n5 – ΔPC negative in range < -2 mV/m.
Discrepancies ΔPC are shown separately for three seasons:
QUINOX (March/April/September/Octoder)
NORTH Summer (May/June/July/August)
SOUTH Summer (November/December/January/February)
Thus, taking into account the experimental data availability, the dataset includes 28 categories with different gradations of ΔPC for Equinox, 30 categories for North summer and 28 categories for South summer
Data are written in ASCII format.
DEFINITIVE and
PRELIMINARY data headers are designated for data obtained with use of definitive and preliminary PCN and PCS indices, correspondingly.
